Our annual CPD conference was held on 11th October at the ZF Group TRW Ltd. premises in Pontypool. We had a great turn out with over 25 in attendance, including trainee doctors and a number of delegates who had travelled from South Korea.

After introductions and a safety briefing, we were taken on a guided tour of the factory floor. The incredibly knowledgeable staff at ZF talked us through the extensive safety procedures they have put in place throughout the site, pointing out the high-risk areas and the steps they take to mitigate any risks.

The rest of the afternoon was dedicated to furthering our knowledge and sharing ideas with colleagues.

Drs Mansouri and Asanati gave a presentation entitled ‘OH Reports’, highlighting the skills to produce clear and actionable OH reports.  The attendees then undertook a case discussion.

Nick Pahl the CEO of the Society of Occupational Medicine gave a talk entitled “SOM and Future Occupational Health Policy”. He gave insight into the work of the SOM, discussed present and future plans, and explained the benefits of membership for those involved with workplace health.

The Workforce Wellbeing admin team took the opportunity to complete their training and review policies as part of the ongoing process of obtaining SEQOHS accreditation.

Special thanks go to the team at ZF Group for being such welcoming and accommodating hosts.

We also offer thanks to the Celtic Manor Resort for the delicious evening meal which was enjoyed by many of the group.
