We can carry out asbestos medicals at our nationally located clinics or on site.

There are two types of asbestos related work – licensed and non licensed:

Licensed

Work is classed as licensed asbestos work if the employee is undertaking regular asbestos demolition/ stripping work. Since May 1st 2015, before an employee starts work with licensed asbestos they will need to undergo a medical examination, unless a suitable examination has been carried out in the previous three years.

The employee will then need follow up examinations every two years whilst the exposure continues.

Non-licensed

Generally speaking, non-licensed asbestos work applies to the majority of construction workers who may come into occasional contact with asbestos (however if you are unsure whether the work your employees are carrying out is licensed or non licensed we advise you talk to the HSE).
Since May 1st 2015, before an employee starts work with non licensed asbestos they will need to undergo a medical examination unless a suitable examination has been carried out in the previous three years.

The employee will then need follow up examinations at intervals no more than three years whilst the exposure continues.

If you are unsure whether the work your employees are carrying out is licensed or non licensed, we advise you talk to the HSE. Visit their website here
